Over at Playstation.blog, the official Playstation blog run by Sony, there was an announcement about PS3 firmware 1.81 coming out tomorrow. The upgraded firmware fixes a glitch where the RGB option in the XMB bar menu sometimes switches back from full to limited. Good news (?) if you’re connecting your PS3 through an HDMI cable on a HD television, but there is more. At the tail end of the post there was this blurb from Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations:
We’re continually evaluating and improving PS2 software compatibility too. Where we can, we’ll look to share similar updates like this on our blog moving forward. Thanks for your ongoing feedback and support!
It’s a sign that the Playstation team hasn’t given up on fixing the handful of PS2 games with severe problems. I wonder what’s going to happen with Europe though and their version of Playstation 3s that emulate the PS2….
