Stay Hungry, Everyday: Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family Is Delayed

The expansive world of the Fate franchise will have to go without one of its friendliest spin-offs for a bit longer; Everyday: Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family is delayed. An announcement on Twitter and the official site confirmed it. The game will no longer make its planned May 2020 release date. Aniplex apologized and asked fans to wait until a new date could be set. Like so many other projects, events, and daily activities this year, the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is to blame.

Everyday: Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family is billed as a “Kitchen Adventure” game on the Nintendo Switch. It’s based on Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family, a manga and anime spin-off of the popular Fate franchise. In it, Shirou Emiya, Rin Tohsaka, Saber, and the cast of Fate/Stay Night are all happy, healthy, and hungry. There are no Holy Grail Wars to win and no battles to be fought. Everyone’s just living a happy everyday existence, and always somehow jonesing for more of Shirou’s home cooking.

Based on its trailer below, the game seems to be built according to the Cooking Mama mold, with players “cooking” recipes from the manga and anime (and a few game-original ones) alongside the characters. The completed meals would then be eaten by the characters in cutesy cutscenes, and even reviewed.

No new release date has been specified yet for Everyday: Today’s Menu for the Emiya Family, and a localized release hasn’t been announced. Fate fans looking to enjoy a “Heaven’s Meal” can at least stream the series on Crunchyroll while they stew.
