Taito evolves Rainbow Island

While not as famous as Bubble Bobble, Taito’s Rainbow Islands made a splash back in the arcades in 1987. Recently the series has been getting a revival on portable handhelds. First Taito released Rainbow Islands Revolution for the DS now Rainbow Islands Evolution is headed to the PSP. The game is an updated classic with new sharper graphics, but the same rainbow building gameplay. Levels in Rainbow Islands Evolution scroll upwards and as you move up the land you were on scales into the background. Not really revolutionary, but seems decent for an evolution. Rising Star Games is publishing this in Europe for 2007 and Taito is bringing it to Japan. No US publisher has been announced, but since Codemasters has been publishing Rising Star’s titles they are the likely candidate to distribute this game in North America.
