This is the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Breath of the Wild was highly successful. As of February 7, 2023, Nintendo announced that sales for the game have exceeded 30 million units worldwide. This includes both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii U releases. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well as Splatoon 3, have also recently reached major sales milestones.

While we do not yet know everything about what’s coming in Tears of the Kingdom, we’ve seen a few snippets since its announcement. It will have an open-world format just like Breath of the Wild, which will allow you to explore Hyrule as far as you can go. As well, you will also be able to travel in the skies. This will greatly expand how much exploring Link can do, as well as increase the kinds of chaos he can cause.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will come out for the Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
