Another Touhou fighting game has a western release date. Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle, a shooter that has some things in common with Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet, will be arriving on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Europe on June 30, 2017. It will come to North America a few days later on July 4, 2017. Digital and physical copies of the console version will be available, while it will be a PlayStation Store exclusive on the handheld.

In Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle, another incident is about to begin in Gensokyo. Supposedly a vampire is teaming up with yokai to cause trouble. As the Hakurei Shrine maiden, Reimu visits the Scarlet Devil Mansion, home of the vampires Remilia and Flandre Scarlet, to investigate. Hijinks and danmaku battles ensue. There are nine playable characters, all of which can use melee attacks, energy bullets, and spell cards in their assaults. Local and online multiplayer modes are available, in addition to single player Arcade and Score Attack modes. The PlayStation 4 version is also compatible with the PlayStation VR headset.

Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle debuted on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan on November 2, 2016.
