This is a big week for Sega with huge releases like Virtua Fighter 5 and Sonic and the Secret Rings heading to store shelves. While those games are based off of their huge franchises, Sega has a more indie title, Crush, in the works for the PSP. In the game you play as Danny who has been placed in a hospital due to insomnia. All he wants to do is sleep, but deep seeded problems in his subconscious prevent him from doing so. Dr. Reubens who is one part a psychologist and one part mad scientist has the solution, a miracle machine that can get to the root of Danny’s problems and gain him respect from his peers, C.R.U.S.H. (Cognitive Regression Utilizing pSychiatric Heuristics). When Dr. Reubens uses the machine Danny enters his subconscious and can terra form the world between 2D and 3D to find the root of his neuroses. The video below shows how Crush is a mix between a platformer and a puzzle game. It’s innovative, but I wonder if enough gamers will take interest in this title say over the usual PSP SRPGs and portable Grand Theft Auto games.
