Eyeshield 21: A Japanese take on American football

Instead of going for a simulation style approach like Madden or a tackle fest like the Blitz series Eyeshield 21 has a totally different approach. The football manga’s first game is based around the DS’ unique features. Completing a pass has players tap a flying pigskin with their stylus. Want to run? Then aim your stylus taps in between breaks in the opponent’s defensive line. Defense gets even more creative, if you want to block you need to hastily draw lines on the screen. All of this is certainly innovative for a genre that hasn’t seen much evolution over the years.
