Nintendo unveils the DS Lite

After much speculation and denial of a DS redesign Nintendo of Japan announced that a new DS was coming. Named DS Lite the slimmer dual screen handheld comes out on March 2^nd 2006 in Japan and retails for 16,800円 ($145). So there was a reason for the DS shortage in Japan afterall.
