Dreamcast home of the shoot em up

Racketboy chronicles all of the great shoot em ups of the late Dreamcast. He points the finer points in each of the games like how in Mars Matrix “you have a challenge that depends more on dodging and a never-ending rain of bullets” and how the recent release Radilgy “borrows heavily from its brother, Chaos Field such as the ability of the player’s ship to swing a sword to cause damage, and destructible enemy fire.” There’s no doubt that the Dreamcast captured the shoot ‘em up genre well, even though it didn’t have Radiant Silvergun in its library.
