Happy 10th birthday Metal Slug

Besides King of Fighters 2006 (KOF: Maximum Impact 2) and SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS SNK’s line up is Metal Slug heavy. First there is Metal Slug Anthology coming out for the PSP and Wii. Metal Slug Anthology is a complete collection of all the Metal Slug games ever released in the arcades. Arcade perfect ports are added in with a few enhancements for the new hardware. The PSP game gets ad hoc wireless play so a second player can jump in as long as both people have copies of the game. The Wii version takes advantage of the system’s wireless controller. One of the enhancements is that players can throw grenades by “throwing” the Wiimote, just don’t actually let the controller fly out of your hand. SNK mentioned that there is a chance that the Metal Slug games and other SNK titles might be available on Nintendo’s virtual console. Currently they are in negotiations about how distribution will work out. Maybe we will see Magician Lord, King of the Monsters and Ninja Combat on the Wii.

The first Metal Slug game will also appear on the Game Boy Advance for players to pick up. Like Metal Slug Anthology, Metal Slug is supposedly an arcade perfect port of the first game. SNK did have a playable demo, but it was void of enemies. From the limited version we saw the game is graphically up to par. All of the Metal Slug action is coming later on in 2006. Check below for screenshots of Metal Slug Anthology for Wii.
