Details on the Xbox 360 Dashboard Update

It seems like Microsoft has been working hard on adding in enhancements for the Xbox 360 dashboard. One of the best enhancements to the dashboard is the ability to download trailers and demos while playing games. The new download manager lets people queue up six downloads in the background. Downloads are a little easier to find too since the menus have been restructured. Now there is a separate area for game trailers. The Xbox team also added in enhancements for video playback like 2X-16X fast forward / rewind for all the videos downloaded from the Xbox Marketplace. Also the media and entertainment menu has a few new additions. There are new sections for game tips, television, gaming community videos and optional iPod support. Since the Xbox 360 camera is coming soon maybe Microsoft is going to let people make their own amateur videos to put online. All of these enhancements sound pretty sweet, but there’s no new word about backwards compatibility. When is the 360 going to play Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio Future and Phantom Dust? Check below for a gallery of screenshots of the update.

the 360 has the best dashboard feature ive ever seen

Should not many of these features been included from launch? I do not mean to criticize the ethic of the teams developing these features so much as I mean to criticize their timing.

This would be one of the many reasons that I do not own a 360 yet. Perhaps someday in the future, but we’ll have to see just what a poor college student can afford.
