Metroid Prime Hunters hits Japan this week

Two months after North America got their hands on Samus’ tap and shoot FPS game, Metroid Prime Hunters, Japan is going to get a chance to play the try the game out on June 1st. Below is the altered cover art and here’s a link to two of the Japanese commercials. It’s going to be interesting to see if the sales of Metroid Prime Hunters compare to the North American release.

It definitely will be interesting to compare the NA & JP sales numbers; traditionally, the Metroid series has had low sales numbers in Japan (compared to sales in the US). Here’s to hoping that someday, our Eastern brethren will look back favorably upon (at least the original) Metroid Prime.

Angelous Says:

Why is the JP box art always infinitely cooler than US boxart? And as far JP sales of Metroid versus US sales, Since metroid hasn’t caught on with them by now, I doubt it ever will since the series has gone into 1st person. The most hated genre in Japan.

FRX Says:

Usually I agree that Japanese box art is better that their Western counterparts, but not in this case. Who thought that putting large bland looking text of MPH on a red background would make this game look appealing. Oh well. And yeah, most likely this game will sell better in the West.

I wonder how the sales will turn out in Japan!
