Now that the series has had a full run on adult swim, Funimation is planning to release the Fullmetal Alchemist movie on September 26, 2006 for North America. Two years after the events in the series Edward Elric has lost the ability to use alchemy and must find a new way to return home to Alphonse. He spends his days studying rocketry and engineering with a young man who reminds him of his brother. Meanwhile Edward discovers a new threat that jeopardizes both worlds. The movie is going to be released in two versions, a regular edition retailing for $29.99 and a limited edition release for $49.99. For the extra $20 you get a 64 page book, ten portrait cards and a bonus DVD with commentary from the Japanese staff and the US staff.
This reminds me that i still haven’t finished watching tv series. Need to do that :] ANd i kinda agree.. 50$ is way too much for an anime dvds but oh well.. maybe this extra book will be worth it ![]()
I was never a huge fan of the series,I dont understand the appeal, stopped watching loooong ago.
Maybe its the dub? It made all the diffrence in Naruto.
Japanese baby.
I liked the series (never seen the dubbed version) but it had one of the worst cliffhanger endings I’ve ever seen… And the movie fixed that, but introduced its own cliffhangers! Great show, if you don’t like closure.
Sidenote: That signed press kit is simply an amazing prize. One-of-a-kind, and you’re just giving it away. That’s truly amazing.
I stopped watching it at about episode 30 or so. Just lost its appeal to me.
Only $50 is what I say. I love how we complain so much. Look at how much the R2 DVDs are. Then complain. If the LE is the same as Japan’s, good deal!
I agree with Yuki. I did end up watching the series to the end, but after the midway point I just couldn’t keep up with all the twists and turns and I just lost interest in the characters and caring about what happened next. Catchy theme songs though.
I enjoyed the series, but the cliffhanger kind of left you going “so now what”. I’ll probably watch the movie, however I’m not willing to shell out 50$ for it. Along with FRX I thought the music was pretty good.
It was the movie that got me interested, actually. I stopped watching at DVD 2 (which has episodes 5-8). However, one day I decided to watch the movie on youtube (I had nothing else to do~) and I wanted to know what led to the events in the movie. So, my episode watching frenzy began.

I’m all for cool bonus content, but $50! That’s a bit extreme even for anime. Is anyone out there actually planning on shelling out the big bucks?
