We like robots and so it isnt too surprising that were curious about Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation. The Super Robot Taisen series is one of the biggest series in Japan, but it never hit Western shores. After fifteen years Atlus decides to pick up the mecha strategy series and release Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation. One of the main problems for not releasing the game outside of Japan is licensing. Mecha from a variety of series like Gundam, Evangelion, Macross and Escaflowne appear in the Super Robot Taisen series which makes it difficult for so many companies to come to an agreement. Instead of using known mecha, Original Generation has its own mecha designs. This allowed Atlus to localize the game for North America. The first Super Robot Taisen game comes out in June (this month!) with the second game coming out later this year. If youre a strategy RPG fan or just love giant robots check the trailer below.
i’m just realy happy that we’re getting a localized Super Robot Taisen in the U.S. I’ve lost the pastience I had in my youth to stumble through an untranslated JP RPG

This would be so much nicer with the licensed franchises. I’ve always wanted to play localized versions of the games from this series. The mashup idea is great, including mecha from the various series. It’s such a bummer that the licensing becomes such an ordeal here in the U.S. Games like ‘Jump Superstars’ for the DS have the same problem, where characters from different anime publishers are included in the same game.
