The next installment of the .hack series is a vast change from the World in the first set of games. Pretty much everything has changed even the combat engine. To clarify how .hack://G.U. works out we have a five page preview of the game’s mechanics.
Fighting:
Each weapon in the game has its own characteristic. The player’s fighting style in battle will change based upon which of the two attack types the weapon falls under. The two attack types are button hold and repeated attacks.
Build-up attack: by holding down on the button during an attack, players can inflict additional damage to the enemy with multiple slashes.
Repeated Attacks: by repeatedly hitting the attack button, the player can keep inflicting damage on the enemy and not give it a chance for a counterattack.
