Sega’s anime surgery game

Sega who has the license to the Astro Boy series picked up another Osamu Tezuka license. No it’s not Kimba the White Lion although having Kimba do surgery would have been an awesome game. In Black Jack you play as Dr. Jotaro Honma, a medical mercenary whose skills are sold to the highest bidder. Surgery takes place on the touch screen where you draw shapes over manga panels to complete an operation. It is sort of like Jet Set Radio’s graffiti system except instead of turning the analog stick you draw patterns. Things get more complicated when you go into mini game mode to complete an operation. Each patient has a different task like removing tumors or stitching wounds. There is a bonus surprise for fans of Tezuka’s work, Astro Boy makes an appearance in the game.
