Forget blu-ray this and HD-DVD that, Microsoft is sidestepping the format war and turning the Xbox 360 into a digital download station. Over the Xbox Live Marketplace Microsoft is going to offer full TV shows and movies to download. There are some powerful partners backing the service including CBS, Turner Networks and NASCAR. Popular TV shows like Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, CSI, the Real World, Pimp My Ride and South Park will be available to download. The first line up of movies includes Mission Impossible III, Nacho Libre, Jackass: The Movie, The Matrix, Superman Returns and Batman Forever. The price for content has not been determined, but there will be options to “rent” content. Now with all of this new content a 20GB hard drive will fill up very fast. This announcement suggests that it is only a matter of time until the rumor about a new 100GB hard drive comes true.
