Games in Hajimete no Wii: Your First Step To Wii

Hajimete no Wii: Your First Step to Wii is a collection of nine casual mini games that demonstrate how the Wii remote can be used. In Japan Hajimete no Wii or Wii Play as it is known in Europe comes bundled with an extra remote controller. However Nintendo has not announced the title for North America. It is unknown if Wii Play is going to come out later in another bundle or as a separate game.

Shooting

Use the Wii remote like a gun to shoot the moving targets. Later stages bring in ducks just like Duck Hunt.

Find Mii

The Wii remote is used as a pointing device so players can track down Mii characters in a large crowd. It is sort of like a multiplayer Where’s Waldo game.

Table Tennis

Hajimete no Wii’s version of tennis is even more simplified than Wii Sports. You don’t have to worry about swatting your racket, instead you point where you want the paddle to be. It’s more like a motion controlled game of pong than a virtual tennis simulation.

Pose Mii

Players mimic the silhouette pose with their Mii by rotating the Wii remote.

Hockey

This neon colored version of air hockey uses the Wii remote to control the paddles.

Charge

In Charge you’re riding a bull and to keep on track you have to tilt the controller to keep your Mii’s balance on the bull.

Fishing

In this game you catch paper fish using the remote controller as a fishing rod. Players have to track down a selected paper fish to get points.

Tanks

A fast paced multiplayer tank game where you drive a tank and use the Wii remote to aim the direction of shots. In Tanks shells can strategically be bounced off of walls.

Billiards

Out of the entire package this one is my favorite. The billiards game can either be played with a 2D top down overview or from a behind the ball 3D camera. The Wii remote acts as a pool cue and players draw the remote back then push it forward to shoot.

It would be great if this came out in N.America as a value title or bundled with a controller. There are some fun looking games on this.

I was under the impression that this comes bundled with the WiiMote in all countries, in Japan as Hajimete No Wii, in North America as Wii Play and in Australia/Europe as Wii Beginning’s
Could be wrong though, after seeing that tank game and having flashbacks to Combat for the Atari 2600, i totally want this set, plus it will be cool to see how Billiards plays.

I’ve played this game at Nintendo Fusion Tour. I played the Duck Hunt style game and the ping pong game. Neither were anything special. (i wasnt supposed to play the ping pong one though, but they let me lol)

    Must…have…extra…wiimote. That’s it. I’m getting it.

I played Billiards at a local Kiosk. It’s unbelievably fun. The sound effects and the tactile feel of the remote when hitting the balls is so uncanny that it’s actually slightly startling.

This pack is going to be a must-own, if for nothing more than the Billiards game!
