Announcing an Inuyasha RPG on the DS

While the series finally ended its run on adult swim a few weeks ago, games and movies based on the world of Inuyasha continue to come out. Speaking of games, Namco Bandai is working on Inuyasha: Secret of the Divine Jewel for the Nintendo DS. The story is driven by “all new-characters”, but don’t worry Kagome and her group are still the stars of the game. The battle system is coined the “cover fellow system (CFS)” where you can get characters to team up from attacks. It sounds like it might be based on the fighting system in Inuyasha: Feudal Combat where you can do team attacks if you can maintain a high affinity for your partner. See the video clip and screenshots past the break to get a clearer idea of how the game is shaping up. As of now the game is strictly for North America in 2007, currently a Japanese release date has not been announced.

Why does it look suspiciously like the game’s using the engine from Xenosaga I & II? :/
