Introducing Izuna: The Unemployed Ninja

After Metal Saga and Touch Detective Atlus is continuing their partnership with Success Corp by releasing Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja (Gouma Reifu Den Izuna). It’s an old school dungeon crawling RPG with the addition of humor and with a female ninja as the main character. Let me rephrase that an airhead female ninja as a main character. When Atlus introduced Izuna here is what she has to say,

“Hi there! I’m Izuna! So you see, we were canned because ‘Ninjas are sooo yesterday,’ and now we’re looking for a nice place to settle down… That stupid lord… Just wait’ll I get my hands on that jerk! So anyways, we found this quaint little village, but… Everyone’s actin’ all weird. Grandboss’s acting like a kid… Shino-Sis’s all mean… What’s going on!? I mean, what is up with this place!? “

The localization on this is sure going to be interesting, but knowing Atlus track record if anyone can pull off translating a game with a vapid ninja as the star it’s them. Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja comes out in mid February 2007 and we have some screenshots of the Japanese release below.

It looks like an anime-inspired Mystery Dungeon game from Chunsoft. Are the dungeons going to be randomly generated?

Spencer Says:

Graphically it does look like a Chunsoft dungeon mash up, but Atlus hasn’t said anything about random dungeons. Maybe after some probing we’ll get more on Izuna.
