Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles side by side

I got my copy of Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles and I have a bunch of surprises for you guys coming tomorrow about the game, but before you see what’s different I took photos of the two boxes. As you can see the cover art for the North American release and the original Japanese release is pretty much the same. The main difference is Gaara and Sasuke are out of the picture. The back cover art has some notable differences, but it is what is (or is not) in the instruction book that is going to irk some Naruto diehards…

Here are the two back covers notice any differences?

Here’s what the North American box looks like on the inside

And this is the Japanese box art

Now here are two scans of the instruction booklets the Japanese one is on top and the North American one is on the bottom. Never mind the text, just look at the pictures. See anything different?

Also see larger scans of the manuals (USA | Japan). The North American manual clearly places the game in the time span of the Third Hokage where the Third calls in the Genin to assist in higher level missions.
