Nintendo’s Japanese Wii site posted up a FAQ about the Wii that answers some technical questions about the new system. Questions about SD card use, taking your Wii online with wires and battery life of the remote are explained.

Q: What distance should you have between you and the Wii?
A: The Wii operates best if you stand between 1 meter and 3 meters (3 to 10 feet) away from your television. Now if you have a large television you can stand back up to 5 meters (16ft) without a problem.

 

Q: Where is the best place to put the sensor bar?
A: The sensor bar should be placed under the television. If you find problems with operating the Wii remote control try closing curtains or reduce the amount of light hitting the television.

 

Q: Can you connect the Wii to a PC monitor
A: If the monitor has AV input or D input you can, Otherwise you cannot use a PC monitor.

 

Q: What is the battery life of the Wii remote control? A: The bundled alkaline batteries will last 30 hours or more.

 

Q: Can you adjust the volume of the Wii remote control speaker?
A: From the Home menu button you can change the setting of the Wii remote control’s volume.

 

Q: Can you use the Wii online if you don’t have a wireless network?
A: There are two methods to connect the Wii to the internet without a Wireless network. You can purchase a Wii LAN adaptor for sale later this year or use the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector, which plugs into a PC. When using the Wi-Fi USB connector you need to turn the computer on.

Q: Can you save data with out a SD memory card?
A: Yes, game saves are stored in the Wii’s internal memory

 

Q: Can it play music CDs and DVD video?
A: The Wii which is sold in December (November for the USA) cannot. A Wii with DVD video playback will be released in the second half of 2007. This model does not have any other additions or changes to the design. Also due to the DVD licensing charge it is possible it will be priced higher.
