Watch: How to mod your Xbox 360 to play imports

360mods.net has a detailed video explaining what you need to do to mod your Xbox 360 without using a modchip. Instead they use modified firmware to alter what the Xbox 360 can play. Before you breakout the screwdriver realize that the process is hard and messy. Also you’re going to lose your ability play games over Live and playing pirated games is illegal. Probably the biggest benefit of this is going region free, but since many Asian releases are already region free this might not be worth risk for most gamers. Still it’s an interesting watch just to see how it is done.

Textbook Says:

I made the video and own the website mentioned. There is an error in your posting. The modification shown is the DVD drive firmware hack. It allows you to play games backed up to DVD+R DL. It does not bypass any region protection though. If your game is region-locked, it will not play , no matter what you try. The modification shown in this video will not help you play region-protected imports.
