Electronic Arts brings the Sims to Wii

By Spencer . November 27, 2006 . 11:51am

Bringing a multi million dollar franchise on the Wii is an easy to move to make, but Electronic Arts is taking the Sims Wii in an entirely new direction. The art design has changed from human characters to cutesy Mii-like characters. Speaking of Miis, the Sims Wii can use your stored Mii characters in the game. Another change to the franchise is that EA plans to make the Wii version of the Sims easy for anyone to play. One of the ways they are doing this is by simplifying the control scheme with the help of the Wii remote. When designing a character you can point to menus with the remote. Designing a house is easy too, you just drag and drop pieces together. Currently the Sims Wii is being developed in Japan, but a North American release seems inevitable if it is a hit there.

This might actually be the first Sims game for a console I pick up.

…but only if they still include the ability to make your sim into a vampire zombie, like in Sims 2.

I dig the new look, but it doesn’t like anything has changed in the Sims besides the remote control. If EA adds in online play this could be an Animal Crossing killer. Hell why not just add animals in it and have the animal Sims happy forest.

    That looks amazingly cute!
Im very pleased that so many games are using the Mii characters!

And i hope this new Japanese developer can really spice up this usually boring game.

everyone checked out the youtube trailer video right? Adorably cute. Like poison on a James Bond Villain with the kneecaps pinched off. Only opposite.

    It is pretty darling though.

Hopefully this will inspire Nintendo to release more options for the Miis. They work now, but they can definitely be better.

Why don’t they make it so you have to use your Mii, put it online and make it like a dating service. It would be awesome! Meet other gamers to date all over the country and you already know what you have in common!

i hate this new sims for the wii. i am a huge fan of the original series on the sims and i bought every signle one that came out, so it was so realistic. and this new “sims” look likes a little kid would play.this game also looks like there will be no sex material in it. im defintaly not going to buy it.

honestly, it looks cute, but a game for girls. I also belive that many people still like the sims, and this looks good.
