So just to clarify things, Sim Theme Park is an American game and it's coming out in English in Q1 2007. The Japanese version is coming out around the same time so EA is probably localizing the game into Japanese while developing it to get it in the market quickly.

I'm confused. Wasn't the original Sims Theme Park an American game? Why has the DS version been developed in Japanese first instead of English?

To be honest, this game looks good, but not great. The Sim Theme Park games just aren't as entertaining as some of the other Sim Management games out there. They probably have more appeal to the kids, being that they manage theme parks and not office buildings, but they just aren't my cup of tea.

On to the good points of this game! The interface looks pretty interesting, and it looks somewhat entertaining. And finally, I can take a version of "Rollercoaster Tycoon" on the road with me when I travel! (Not when I'm driving, of course) This is probably a GREAT time-killer for those family reunions gone bad.

But for every good point there must be a bad. To begin with, the graphics look downright ugly. The rides and businesses look like they have been photographed, then copid out of MS Paint and pasted onto a background. Normally this wouldn't be a bad thing in itself, but the cartoony art style behind the rides harshly contrasts the ride's realistic art style to make somewhat of an eye-sore. In addition to the graphics, it looks as if you cannot use the bottom TOUCH screen to place objects, thus complicating the game, and taking away possibly one of the ONLY innovation to the genre that the DS could offer.

All in all, this is a game I would avoid on launch day, and I haven't even played it yet. The screenshots just make me want to avoid it, and perhaps even blow chunks ON it.
