Famitsu gave it a 22. Thats it's lowest rating for a Wii launch title.

I don’t think the Japanese press was terribly kind to Wing Island. Sometimes delaying a game until the hype of the first wave of titles for a new system dies down is justified so that when people do end up getting bored of Wii Sports, Zelda, Red Steel, etc- there will be something coming down the pipe that people are genuinely interested in playing as something 'different'. Sadly, I can't help but think that Hudson is looking at these initial numbers and wondering why they should even bother with a port to the U.S. or Europe markets. I hope that's not the case- I think the game looks like loads of fun.

I agree- I think (hope) that as time goes on more people will be more prepared to give other games like Wing Island a try- and if the game is good enough, ultimately purchase it. I just don't think people want to bother buying it now when they're already spending all their yen on the system and Wii Sports and Wii Play and Zelda.

I think one of the problems is that.. well, we’ve got a launch, and in japan, they’ve got Wii Play and Wii Sports, and Zelda, and the attach rate is about 2.

So if you’re going into buy a Wii, and the average is 2 games per person, how many people are going to get titles that aren’t wii play, wii sports, and Zelda?

It’s njot that people don’t want to buy it.
