This week Nintendo released the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Gamecube. Supposedly the game wasn’t going to be too difficult to find since major retailers have were going to have it stocked and Circuit City is discounting it down to $38. Only a few days after the game’s release copies have been popping up on eBay priced around the $70s. Is this really a rare game or is this just another case of Twilight Princess fever?
I just checked amazon and they’re sold out. Under their sellers tab, they have prices ranging from $70 to $200!
WTF? I’ve seen copies of TP on the Gameucbe EVERYWHERE. Maybe these are importers
I don’t get it either. I work at a retail store and one of my co-workers said that someone came in and bought 5 copies for the GameCube version just this weekend. We had them on sale for 49.99, a pretty standard price. When he asked her why she was buying 5 copies, she mentioned something about this Zelda title being the last Zelda title that will ever be released [and perhaps it was decided by Nintendo to hang link’s hat up for good after this] and she wanted to perhaps hang on to them for a while and try to sell the copies as an investment. Pretty dumb I think.
Video games aren’t perishable items that you need to store in your fridge and play before a certain expiration date, so if someone wants to get the game years later, it’ll be around either in a “Players Choice” release, or available on sites like eBay, or in general used game titles at many stores. Also, as games get older and people get smarter, someone will figure out how to port the game into a ROM. I’m not saying it will happen, I’m just saying that trends in technology seem to suggest that it could happen.
My note to this woman who bought all these copies - “You’ve wasted your money and the truth has been spoken.” GONG!!!
The Gamecube version has been pretty available around my area. It is the Wii version that seems to have a shortage. The graphics for the Gamecube verses the Wii is no contest in my eyes. wii is so much better. I have a Gamecube but am going to wait to see if I can find a Wii at the original cost. I know after Christmas there will be much more easy to find. I love the Zelda storyline and was tempted to buy ther cube version, but then I came to my senses. If this is the last of the series that is really to bad, as there has been a large following to this game. Maybe they will rethink that and come to their senses. Merry Christmas everyone!!!
I cant find a copy of the GC version anywhere and I live in the NYC area!!

Hmmm, I haven’t heard anything about this. I just got my copy from Walmart for $50 yesterday and they had plenty. I can’t imagine why someone would pay more for a game that you can get on another system anyway. That’s just strange
In related new, 1.5 hours in and I’m slowly moving towards the 3rd dungeon. Man, the game is BIG!
