Blue Dragon causes Xbox 360 sales to surge in Japan

In the week that Blue Dragon was released 80,348 copies of the game were sold and Mistwalker’s flagship title became the number four selling game of the week. While the sales numbers pale in comparison to the latest PS2 Mobile Suit Gundam game (it sold 337,559 copies in its first week), Blue Dragon is getting Japanese gamers to pick up Xbox 360s. The week before Blue Dragon came out only 4,053 Xbox 360s were sold in Japan. After Blue Dragon’s release 35,343 Xbox 360s were sold. That’s nearly an eight fold increase in the amount of Xbox 360s sold in Japan. In the wake of the PS3 and Wii launch the Xbox 360 is finally starting to perform well in Japan. Let’s see if Lost Planet can continue this trend when it is released this week.

Duh, it’s a turn base RPG with Final Fantasy summonings and Dragon Quest Art, that’s pretty much what Japanese gamers want. About time Microsoft did their homework and got a company to do a game that Japanese gamers wanted.

Bah, Japanese folks can get their Hentai Boobies on every corner of the street for cheaper prices than a game console, which is pretty much what this “game” is all about anyway. Although I never played this one, I did own the 1st one which was more of a dating sim than anything else.

That, and you have to consider DOA 4 didn’t really generate much sales for the 360 in Japan. When you realize this, it doesn’t come off as a surprise that DOA X2 is lacking sales-wise as well, especially since the game is inferior to DOA 4 in just about every category.
