Forget Playstation 3 to PSP downloads play your PS1 library on your PSP

Dark_AleX has released a new version of his homebrew firmware that allows users to put their Playstation one games directly on their PSP. There are no extra fees to pay, instead you use games from your existing PS1 library and convert them to play on the PSP. Games we’ve seen working include: Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VIII and Resident Evil 2. Unfortunately, if you updated your PSP to any firmware greater than 2.7 you’re not going to be able to switch your firmware until someone else makes a 1.5 firmware downgrader too. This tool makes the PSP worth owning since you can draw upon a library of titles you own and take them to go. Also this is going to be direct competition for all of the shoveled PS1 ports like Ape Escape: On the Loose.

The worst part about this is that if you actually own the PSX games that you dump on your Memory Stick, it’s 100% legal. SONY just got owned, again.

Just one more reason not to buy a PS3.

Sony just needs to give in and stop making updates that prevent homebrew–it’s about the only hope the PSP has left against the DS.
