im not totally stupid, just a bit thick; can someone tell me (in simple idiot speak) how to get a video file stored on my PC onto my DS Lite (i have the Nintendo MP3 Player and a 2GB SD Card. Cheers

Here’s one great advantage of using the DS MP3 player: you have to buy SD cards to put the MP3’s on. In other words, you won’t have to buy a new MP3 player in 1 or 2 year cause that 1/2 Gb isn’t enough, you can just get a new SD card (by then 4/8 GB cards will be a lot cheaper) and put your old SD card in your Wii or whatever.

The MP3 player is 30 Euro here, that’s less than 40$. I’m not gonna pay an extra 30$ for a video functionality that I won’t be using.

Actually, flash reading devices like MP3 players are built with a flash reading limit. This means that we won’t be able to read the cards from 5 years from now (if they have the same format to being with).

I’m still not convinced of the concept of using your gaming device for music. Today’s high sales of small MP3 devices prove that people want something that’s both compact and has a lot of storage. I can’t imagine where Apple would be today if the IPod was never invented.

I bought an off brand version of the Play-Yan from Lik-Sang before they went under simply called the “GBA Movie Player.” It ran from a compact flash card and was a lot cheaper than the Play-Yan. The movie quality was excellent and it also played pictures, text files, music, and even the smaller Famicom roms! (less than 192k, I think). They quality was a little shotty, as expected, though, and it broke about 6 months later. The thing froze when I was updating the firmware, rendering it useless. Still, I’d buy one again if I had to travel a lot, or maybe if I get a Micro. You can find them pretty easily on ebay for $20-$30 including shipping.
