Korea’s cool Playstation lounge

By Spencer . January 3, 2007 . 7:53am

Sony’s Korean arm has a neat idea, set up shop at ski slopes. Inside their igloo shaped lounge are PS2s and PSPs with games that anyone can play. There are pictures of the inside of the lounge past the break. Look closely at the last picture is that a wine bottle at the right hand corner?

Yes, that does look like a wine bottle in the last pic. I’d definitely need it if I were going to play a stock PSP. Now,only if Nintendo had it’s own igloo video game shop….

This is funny. I thought the whole idea behind buying video game consoles was to be able to play video games at home rather than spending quarters at the arcades,… and now we’re going right back to the arcades and probably spending dollars or worse yet, ‘charging it’. I wonder how much this costs, or are the costs ‘per-title’ like a restaurant menu item?

This is a perfect example of the quote, “The more things change, the more they stay the same”.

Notice how in the second pic, they’re smiling, but in the third pic, where everyone’s playing PSPs, they look like zombies.

I was at South Korea’s YongPyon Resort this past weekend but it appears that Sony didn’t have an igloo set up there–oh well! As for the wine, they’re not going to drink it, it’s just for looks.

Another thing common in Korea is the video game room where they’ll have consoles hooked up to huge TVs and you can play all you want for just a few bucks per hour. Much cheaper than an arcade!
