Konami’s survival adventure sequel, Survival Kids: Lost in Blue 2 is scheduled to come out on March 15, 2007 in Japan. Once again a boy and a girl are on an island and they have to find a way to survive. Animals can attack the duo in Lost in Blue 2 and you have to find a way to fight back with weapons. Lost in Blue 2 also has some multiplayer mini games aside from the story mode. In related Konami news, they announced that Puzzle Series: Jigsaw Puzzle Odenkun 2 is coming out on March 29, 2007. As the name implies it is a jigsaw puzzle game with the Odenkun anime characters where you use the stylus to put together puzzles. While Jigsaw Puzzle Odenkun probably won’t be coming to the USA, Lost in Blue 2 is scheduled for a US release in the first quarter of 2007. I recently went back and played Survival Kids for the GBC, which is the game Lost in Blue is based upon. I wish they would go back to the roots a bit more as well, it would make the games significantly better. It’s a highly under appreciated game.

I sure hope this is better than the first Lost in Blue. LiB was one of my most anticipated DS games, and while it was decent, it was still very disappointing. It’s like they sucked out all of the fun of the original GBC games.

Little things like adding in background music could make the game a lot less boring. But my bigger hope is that they put more emphasis on exploration. LiB’s game world was just way too small and linear, and I really found myself not caring about what new areas I’d uncover. On top of that, you were very restricted due to the fact that you had to backtrack all the way back to the cave if you wanted to cook some food, and you had to worry about Skye starving to death as well.

They had a pretty well-designed game. But they didn’t even bother to make sure it was actually fun to play.

Sandsnake Says:

Wow, this is probably my all-time favorite game, it’s really up there with Halo 2 and the such. I’ve never heard of Survival Kids, but it really sounds like an awesome game. Anyway, what is the GBC? Is that Gamecube? If so, I’ll have to get one!
