The many disguises of Wario

While Wario has found his roots in his own microgame series, Wario started out in the platforming genre. Wario the Thief (aka Wario: Master of Disguise outside of Japan) is a return back to 2D treasure hunting and it is coming out next week. Wario has different disguises that he can put on by drawing shapes on the DS’ touch screen. On the left is the shape you have to draw to transform Wario and the right is a picture of him in his costume.

Graffiti Wario: The graffiti disguise lets the player draw blocks on the touch screen by making squares. These blocks can be used to trip switches and open new paths to treasure chests.

Flying Wario: When Wario puts this on he can fly and reach places that he normally couldn’t.

Dinosaur Wario: This disguise gives Wario a fire breathing mask that can blow up special blocks.

Captain Wario: Some underwater areas have strong currents that Wario can not swim through. If he puts on the Captain Wario costume he can float above the currents and tread through water.

Biribiri Wario: This costume makes a small spotlight around Wario so he can see in dark areas. Wario can also charge up energy to expand his vision for a brief second. (note: biribiri is Japanese onomatopoeia, it’s the sound of getting shocked or something like the “buzz buzz” sound for electricity)

Doctor Wario: When Wario uses this he can see hidden platforms, which appear light blue.

Space Wario: Wario’s space suit outfit comes with a laser that can be used to shoot targets in the air.

Wario can transform out of any of these costumes by drawing a check mark over him. Do this  and he will transform back into regular Wario.
