What if Mario had lasers in Super Mario World?

This video shows an obviously fake “secret” area where you can get the ultra powerful laser suit Mario. While this trick can’t be replicated how would the Super Mario World or Super Mario Galaxy be a different game if Mario had a gun? Could it make gameplay better or would it follow in the footsteps of Shadow the Hedgehog?
