Sony’s PS3 launch line up for Europe rocks, price sucks

By Spencer . January 25, 2007 . 6:36am

After months of extra waiting the Playstation 3 is going to launch in Europe on March 28, 2007 and there are already some qualms with the delayed release. There are going to be no 20GB cheaper PS3s at the launch and the cost a system is 599 euros ($778!) more if you’re in the Australia ($780), the UK ($837) or New Zealand ($843). However, Sony has got one thing going for it a much better line up for the PS3 compared to Japan and the US. There are some heavy hitters out of 28 games coming out and 8 network titles like MotorStorm, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Virtua Fighter 5 and Resistance Fall of Man. One million PS3s are going to come out in the PAL region in March and it’s up to the titles past the break to convince European gamers to buy them. That and secret "further announcements" from Playstation UK. Casino Royale blu ray disc packaged in maybe?

Nice to see Sony make up for the later launch date with a much better line up of titles to purchase, but it’s just like Sony to screw even that up by pricing the PS3 at such an absurd price. And to think the price is already high enough over in America. I’ll be surprised if the console does any better in Europe than it has fared in the US.
