Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots screenshots

Dang, Snake is getting old, and I don’t mean the MGS series! What happened to this guy? I guess fighting all those Metal Gears took years off his life.

It’s been revealed that Snake’s older appearance is due to the imperfect technology used to clone him from Big Boss.

Talk about a total role reversal. After the Tanker Chapter ended in MGS2 and gamers were stuck playing as Raiden for the rest of the game most (including myself) couldn’t help but wish to step back in the shoes of the series badass Snake, but it wasn’t to be.

Sure they pretty much played exactly alike, but Raiden just didn’t have the attitude and personality that series mainstay Snake had.

Now we have the opposite happening, with Raiden actually looking like a threat for once. Unfortunately, you can’t really say the same for Snake. Still, if I can deal with playing as Raiden in the past (while he looked pretty pathetic in comparison to Snake), I can certainly handle playing as an older Snake. At the very least, Kojima didn’t keep it as a surprise like how he handled Raiden.
