Weakest exclusives? GamePro says Xbox 360 has’em!

Let’s face it; exclusivity is now starting to become a thing of the past with the Xbox 360 receiving some PS3 exclusives and some Xbox 360 exclusives going to PS3. Multiplatforming is in now since its an easier way to save face from declaring bankruptcy. Of course, even some have to admit that exclusivity adds a sort of significant status to owning a console; after all, who doesn’t want bragging rights for owning a PS3 with White Knight Story or an Xbox 360 with Blue Dragon right?

served.jpgAnywho, of all the consoles and their exclusivity, GamePro says Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has the weakest exclusives of them all. Outside Halo 3 and Gears of War, what else does the Xbox 360 have? Bioshock and Mass Effect? Sure! Fable 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction? Hell yes! Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, Cry On and Eternal Sonata? Go for it! That, of course, fails to make mention in this GamePro article, but there is a bit of truth to the article when saying the Xbox 360 has weakest exclusives of all when compared to Sony and Nintendo. After all, the Xbox 360 is home to mostly FPS and PC ports of FPS, not to mention games lacking in a lot of genres (see: shmups, JRPGs, fighters, action, adventure). Then again, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Infinite Undiscovery, and other untitled RPG projects are changing the sudden need for (J)RPGs on the console…but still.

What do you think?

I think 360 has some good exclusives, but compared to the other two systems it is the weakest. Nintendo has a rediculous number of first party exclusives possible, and PS3 has many exclusives from proven series. The 360 has Halo 3 and Fable 2; I don’t count splinter cell games as exclusive… or as new games since Tom Clancy games are all the same damned thing over and over with (possibly) new environments. The point about 360 lacking support for many genres is also quite true. Despite having the “weakest” position 360 is looking more promising to me as a system to buy after this generation dies or it gets much cheaper. I can’t pass up games like FFXIII and Smash Brothers Brawl, and spending over $1,000 on hardware alone is a rough sell for me at least (1,000+ total meaning for all systems… rather than just 250+controllers+600+controllers *grumble*) At least I have until 2008 for a potential pricecut before any big name PS3 games come out. I’m content with PS2 and Wii/Gamecube until then.

Same here, Wii + PS2 is a good enough combo for the moment. 360 maybe next year if that Naruto game from Ubisft finally comes out and if a better Pro Evo comes out on it since I wasn’t convinced by the one that came out few months ago… Untill then, a 2nd Wii for me (can’t be bothered to wait for the Freeloader since the NGNT EX comes out in 2 weeks)… Shippuuden, here I come ;)

dam
screw gamepro i personally think there the worst gaming magazine
they always give good ratings to ANIME GAMES that suck
and cant see difference between next gen and current, for example GUN
and they have horrible tips about games

Bioshock is going to PS3 , according to info leaked in UK gaming mag.
Blue Dragon didnt get the greatest reviews.
Exclusives are overrated.
