Update: What’s going on with our videos

By Spencer . February 13, 2007 . 1:06am

Hey Siliconera followers, Spencer here and you might have noticed that some of our YouTube videos are offline. Without any warning our YouTube account was pulled and all of the video links are broken. While we’re trying to communicate with them we are actively looking at other solutions instead of relying on them to serve our video content. We are already beginning to host some videos on our servers. These changes shouldn’t affect Siliconera readers too much, but if you’re a fellow blogger who has been linking to our videos things might be a little tricky. If you’re one of our supporters and would like access to our video content please e-mail us at siliconera@gmail.com with “Video Request” in the subject tag line. We will try our best to figure out options for the blogosphere and other internet users too.

yes, youtube has really gone down the crapper lately. ever since google bought them, the number of copyright-infringement claims and pulled videos has shot way up... it's like what happened with napster: their own popularity killed them.

Streaming videos suck anyway... (poor quality and freezes all the time and requires a flash plugin)

That was my constructive comment of the day :).

Is it just me or has YouTube really just gotten really crappy lately? Like seriously, they went from internet darling with user content that was supreme over anything else available to something that is just plain trying to sabotage itself. :P
