Fist of the North Star entering MMO territory

Besides Arc System Works’ fighting game which is coming out for the PS2 this month care of Sega, a Fist of the North Star MMORPG is in the works. The system is what makes the game interesting, because you can completely customize your character’s fighting moves via skill orbs. Orbs can either be active attacks, passive boosts or counter attacks. Furthermore the attacks are divided into a rock-paper-scissors system. Once a battle begins players fight until one runs out of TP and drops dead. I’m not sure if there is going to be much “control” skill in fighting, it sounds more like Fist of the North Star MMORPG is more like MushiKing or Dino King where you select one of three attacks and then watch the action on screen. Another change is that there is no money in the Fist of the North Star MMORPG, everything is done by trading. While Fist of the North Star’s MMO debut may not be a massive fighting game, it’s a twist on the MMO formula.

As much as I love Fist of the North Star, the rock-paper-scissors style of play does not sound fun at all.
