Watch: Gundam Musou Gameplay

By Rolando . March 4, 2007 . 2:14pm

Gundam Musou was released this past Thursday in Japan; and if sales are any indication, Gundam Musou managed to sell 70% of its 180,000 shipments. Despite the fact that not many Japanese gamers own a PS3, Gundam Musou’s sales aren’t all that bad for a first week. Here’s to hoping that the sales do improve since Gundam, more so the Musou games, sell in an instant!

To commemorate the success of Gundam Musou, watch this gameplay clip and observe how the game plays. It seems that Gundam Musou suffers from the stapled problems most people who dislike Musou condemn it for (i.e. uninspiring environments and repetition), but you be the judge.

Looks pretty good to me. Thoughts?

The dialogue and music from Zeta does get the blood bumping, I would play it for the story. There is the repetitive issue though, as I was just messing w/ Ninety-Nine Nights the other day. Would pick this up eventually, right now no games for my PS3 whatsoever :(…

Don’t get me wrong, I’d play it. I can stomach some Musou for a while. But man, are those NPC mobile suits just standing still, or what? Combat doesn’t seem very dynamic or faithful to what we see in the Gundam shows.

That’s exactly why it would have made much more sense if Gundam Musou was based on the Gundam Wing universe. Near indestructible Gundams easily manhandling other Mobile Suits all by itself without getting a single scratch simply screams of Gundam Wing!

This is actually one of the first times in recent years I’ve been excited about one of Koei’s hack-n-slashers. The premise hasn’t seemed to change one bit, but its a nice change of pace from the usual characters and environments found in previous Dynasty/Samurai Warriors games, all in part to the Gundam motif.

One would think that the enemies would have better A.I. w/ the PS3’s boasted horsepower, wonder if that’s the case. Other than the stories from the original, Zeta, and ZZ, the rest like SEED I don’t care much for.

I also have no PS3 games as i cant afford any at the moment as the system was so expensive. I have got a few Japanese PSX and PS2 though for my Japanese PS3 so with them and the demos ive had something to play. I want this but think ill get Resistance first as the Japanese version is only £26($51) which is cheap here in the UK for a game.
