Stepmania X Wii controller: Dancing with the Wiimote

By Spencer . March 6, 2007 . 10:34am

With the help of a custom GlovePIE script the Wii remote can be used to play Stepmania. The demo shows that instead of pressing keys or stomping on arrows you move the remote: up, down, left or right. It’s a new way to experience DDR, but hopefully Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party will be more innovative than this.

im sorry but first and foremost DDR was meant to be played with your feet. secondly, all those arrows were pretty much on the beat. what’s going to happen when you have to do doubles? or multiple doubles in a row? it’s a cool idea but i just don’t think it would work effectively.

  • That doesn’t look that impressive. The guy holding the wiimote needs to dance more. Half the fun of DDR is looking ridiculous.

I think Louise is right. The guy is definitely not giving me the vibe I need to feel like “Hell yeah, I’m going to get this game!” Also, I think the game would be interesting if you can use the Wii-mote and the nunchuck, because at least then you could get more into it.

    No double direction? :D

  • Rodan

    Meh. I Beorn32’s script better.
    Wiimote controls right and up.
    Nunchuck controls left and down.

    Hold Z/B for hold notes.

It takes a while to get used to. So it retains the fun of laughing at other people fail.

It was a hit at a party I had a few weeks ago.

  • people will just say the motion sensor didn’t register as an exscuse and it’s supposed to be played with you’re feet
