Glad to hear the online play for Contra is as it should be nonetheless. Wish the same could be said for the playing style.

Seems the only thing holding this compilation back has more to do with the DS' screen rather than broken gameplay. Almost makes me wish Konami had opted for the PS2 for this collection, its not as if ports of arcade titles aren't commonplace already as it is considering the platform.

Once this finally reaches out to a much more budget-friendly price, however, I could imagine picking up the US version for Gradius and Twinbee alone.

Veilknight - I haven't played a lot of Contra since its so eye straining. It's much better on Xbox Live even though the online play is wonky just because you can see the bullets. This might disappoint you, but there is no Nintendo Wi-Fi play, only local wireless play for all the games.

How's the wireless play on Contra? That's one area which has concerned me ever since Konami Arcade Collection's confirmation of online play through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

I can only hope all the bugs featured in the online co-op on Xbox Live are now gone and everything works flawlessly. To see the same errors pop up twice after everything should have been corrected with this port would seem quite silly.

nah, not game & watch, it was on the NES. You need to bounce people up a couple of times to extinguish the fire. At any rate, I would pick up this baby if it's like 20 bucks.

Are you talking about the "Fire" Game & Watch game? I remember that! Man that was awesome. I think they have new portable Game & Watches with it, at a discount price somewhere...

Wow, I remember playing "Track & Field" w/ friends as a kid and had a blast w/ it. If I recall correctly, one could throw the iron ball by rotating the d-pad w/ difficulty and you would get callus from it, lol. "Circus Charlie" was one of my favorites too, I remember the lion jumping thru the flamed hoops.

I'm trying to imagine how one could play the shooters vertically w/ the btns on the other side, just too funny :)

I want to relive the nostalgia too, but I guess some fond memories should just be left alone. One old game that I really want to play again is this fireman game, you control two firemen holidng a trampoline to bounce people up and down to put out fires on a building, it was crazily fun.
