Symphony - I shudder too. No HD movies unless you're getting the larger hard drive

Sariah - You've got a point about Eva and the new thinpak DVD sets coming out. Anime is cheaper, but I sort of like how you can buy one episode for $2 before sinking in $20 or so for a DVD or $60 for a boxset.

I shudder to think of what an HD Braveheart would do to a 20gb hard drive.

For movies, I would just use Netflix or pick up the DVDs for those worth collecting. I'm impatient sitting thru downloads of demos and trailers on my PS3, let alone movies. Of course I don't have the money to blow on the bigger 120 Gb Hard drive at the moment either. Nice XBLive services though.

I wouldn't say that this would be as great of an alternative for anime as it's made out to be. Just as an example, let's take Neon Genesis Evangelion, and let's go to animecornerstore.com, since it's a fairly popular site (even though there's cheaper out there). There price for the Platinum edition, which has all 26 episodes is $67.98, which equates to about $2.50 a pop. This also includes extras, including commentaries, art, etc., and comes on DVD...which can be used in your 360, or DVD player, or PS3, or....whatever, unlike 360 downloads, which are exclusive to the 360.

A lot of somewhat older fogeys (myself included), tend to occasionally fall into the trap of assuming that anime is insanely expensive, since we were used to spending so much when it wasn't quite as popular in the U.S. That's not the case anymore, and it's become a much easier hobby to deal with (at least pocketbook-wise).
