Seriously not an April fool’s joke: Nights on the Wii is real

The rumor has been floating around forever and has had minor teases like G-Para’s updated release list, but now it’s a sure thing. IceAmp sends us word that GameReactor has a silhouette image of the jester on the front cover. Exciting news for sure, but after all of these years how is Sega planning to revive NiGHTS with motion control?

  • this is upsetting. i have been player hating on the Wii since it came out, and have refused to get one. But in the same breath, NiGHTS (along with SEGA in general) are near and dear to my heart.

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO NOW!?
  • Joe
    What do you do?
Stop being a fanboy and buy the system. it's a good sytem with great games and more good games coming down the pipeline.
Real gamers get ALL the systems and aren't biased against one or the other.
suck it up and get one.

The game is a long ways off, you can certainly make a decision when the game is out. But Joe is right, you should'nt pass by an entire system cause you like hating it. There are some good games you're missing out on.
  • wow.. What I Say Is "About Time"..

After Playing Through Many EyeToy-NiGHTS-Mini-Games And Years Of My Little LCD NiGHTS Keychain-ish Game, We Get A True Sequel..

'guess The Wii Is Fitting For NiGHTS To Make A Come-Back is suppose..

And About The One 'Whining' About It Being On The Wii, well, People Do Have Their Likes And Dislikes And You Can't Change All Of Them. Imagine 1 Game That You'd Really Look Forward To, But It's On Another System, Which You Don't Have, Probably Don't Afford (to get another system, that is), And The Rest Of The Games Available Doen't Look Worth It To Buy It Just For That One Game..

    -dr phil mode off-

Anyways, Thanks Sega.. I Can Finnaly Pass By Your Offices Every Day And Feel Good About It.. then again, we have to actually see game-footage now, don't we?

Considering how SEGA has been sucking the past 6 years, I'll rent before buying. I wouldn't put it pass them to #$%^ up this franchise as well.

It does get worrisome w/ Sega's not so favorable track record from seeing the sub-par updates of Sonic, ruining the image of our beloved Blue hedgehog. But Nights was a 3-D game on the Saturn to begin with, so the next-gen transition shouldn't be too jarring right? I hope it would turn out to be a great sequel. Redeem yourself Sega!

In order to pull off a NiGHTS sequel, all Sega needs to do is first and foremost, don't mess around with the formula at all. Keep the game faithful to the original as to not stir up controversy, that way people such as myself who have played the game in the past can relive the experience with all the bells and whistles of a next-gen sequel. For those who haven't even played NiGHTS in the beginning and are curious, this will give them the perfect opportunity to learn just what they're missing after all these years.

Add new levels, properly designed AiR NiGHTS control using the Wii remote, be sure to include all the features in Christmas NiGHTS and you have a worthwhile successor to the Sega Saturn classic.

Although it used 3D (and I use the term loosly since it was Saturn) Graphics, it was pretty a 2D sidescroller at heart. Putting Nights in 3D will bascally give you something similar to that game in Rayman RR where you dive from way high and try to go through the smoke rings.
