Sorry importers Gyakuten Saiban 4 is Japanese only

By Spencer . March 27, 2007 . 11:56am

The_importer sends us a note (thanks!) that Play-Asia updated their Gyakuten Saiban 4 product page with the words “Japanese language support ONLY” in bold. Previous Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney series) games have had an English language option and perhaps importers were expecting (hoping?) that Gyakuten Saiban 4 was going to include one too. While disappointing it isn’t too surprising since Capcom still hasn’t released the third game in the series and they probably haven’t decided on English names for the new characters earlier. Anyway, were you really going to skip Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 3 and go straight to 4?

booerns, oh well the game series was getting a bit tired anyway.

  • the two phoenix wrights have been a couple of my favorite games on the ds, and i’ll play whichever gyakuten capcom throws at us next (hopefully 3). i wasn’t much expecting 4 to be bilingual anyhow.

Somehow, I’m not surprise. The English mode was obviously not added for importing benefits, but was added for an add-on for the Japanese consumers who already owned the GBA version to get a bit more for a remake.

Gyakuten Saiban 4 is a brand new game, you can’t expect Capcom of Japan to spend more time and cash translating it.

That’s true, the Eng language option was more of a Jpn novelty since they were re-releases after all. Definitely picking up 4 since I played both Gyakuten Saiban 1 & 2 in Jpn anyway (though I tried the Eng. version later after beating the games to see how the pun names carried over, great translation job Capcom), I wonder if the special red Odoroki headphone edition would be much more expensive, and they have the encyclopedias too summarizing the last three games.

I definitely want to play 3 before 4, so I don’t mind them not translating 4 yet. Then I won’t be tempted to get it first.

Oh well. I was a bit surprised and mad when I first found out that Phoenix would be replaced in #4. But I still love the series regardless. Both of my DS games are imported copies. I was hoping to get in on some translated love since I just finished up on the sequel.
