Battles in Soul Nomad & the World Eaters

Soul Nomad has a twist on the standard grid based SRPG combat system. You position up to eight squads on a grid based map, but once you get in range to attack you switch into a side view of the fight. Your characters are on the left hand side and your enemies are on the right. The squad you picked will automatically execute a preset series of attacks displayed sort of like Advance Wars or Fire Emblem. The kinds of attacks your squad does depends on what kind of units and team abilities you equip. If the enemy is too strong you can change your tactics or use a “desperation move”. Remember how the Hero wields a sword with the evil overlord, “Gig” sealed in it? You can make a deal with Gig and sell a portion of your soul to him. It’s a high price to pay, but Gig can grant you enough power to defeat the final boss in the first 20 minutes of the game. Until you sell 100% of your soul the hero still lives, so you can make a few deals with the devil and not have to worry about Gig taking over.

The battles seem fun, they kind of remind me of Bahamut Lagoon. The whole enough power to beat the final boss has me worried though. I hope you mean theoretically, not possible to finish the game in twenty minutes.
