How battles in Grim Grimoire work

Unlike many of NIS America’s other titles Grim Grimoire is a real time strategy game. Lillet doesn’t fight; instead she summons elves and fairies to do battle for her. When you start a battle in Grim Grimoire you have to summon units by placing a summon circle. Once the circle is on the ground it takes some time for the creature to pop out and if the circle is disrupted by an enemy attack the summon will be cancelled. Once you call an elf into battle you have six commands to choose from:

Gather - collect mana crystals so you can cast spells and summon more units

Move - used to direct your units to a location

Attack - used to attack an enemy or destroy objects on the battlefield

Defend - units that defend stay in an area and attack enemies that enter it

Heal - heal friendly units at the expense of mana points

Patrol - units that patrol are given an area to guard and attack enemies that enter it

The system is sort of like a fast paced RTS which cuts out buildings so you get to combat quicker. What do you think of it?

The art and story certain look attractive enough from the trailer, how’s the difficulty for one who’s not used to strategy games? I think Odin Sphere would be more of my cup of tea.

I’m actually awful at RTS, but picked up Grim Gimoire pretty easily.
