SNK dusts off Kizuna Encounter

SNK dusts off Kizuna EncounterIn an odd move SNK Playmore is porting Fu’un Super Tag Battle (aka Kizuna Encounter) to the Playstation 2. Kizuna Encounter is a 2D fighting game with a tag system that requires players to stand in a special place to tag out. The Neo Geo version is probably more renowned as being one of the “rarest” games of all time since the EU version is a rare collector’s item worth around $10K for a copy. The PS2 release comes with some additions such as a skill list, practice mode, arranged background music, a character color editor and like other SNK PS2 remakes online play. Currently Fu’un Super Combo is only scheduled for Japan and it is slated for release on June 21st.

If SNK keeps this up, I won’t even need the Wii’s Virtual Console for many Neo-Geo games, at least when 2D fighters are concerned. Although I wouldn’t mind seeing many other titles outside one-on-one fighters gracefully find their way to the PS2, Magician Lord and a Sengoku collection (if only for the third installment) wouldn’t hurt at all. Keep ‘em coming SNK!

It may not be the same as owning the actual PAL version of Kizuna Encounter, but this will do perfectly. All the bonus materials are enough to grab my interest.
