Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes is a US exclusive and it’s not the PSP game you imported

By Spencer . April 11, 2007 . 1:09pm

After seeing the screenshots from Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes I thought it was a localized version of Naruto: Narultimate Portable Mugenjo no Maki. Nope! To get the story straight for everyone I asked a Namco Bandai rep about it through a couple of e-mails and it really is a new game. In Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes you have a three on three fighting system (new!), hidden team skills, twenty characters to play as and wireless two player battles with game sharing. Compared to the Japanese PSP game Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes is more action oriented while Mugenjo no Maki was more about the story. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes is scheduled to come out late this summer and we’ll bring you more details on it in the future. Until then see some screenshots of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes past the break.

You might be wondering why the screenshots have the characters names in katakana when this is a US developed game. Here’s the explanation straight from Namco Bandai, “The reason why is because the game is being developed in Japan by a Japanese developer. The game/screens are a work in progress and will be localized when it is released.”

Looks like portable to me

Come on, since when do you believe game companies spokepersons? It’s obviously a tone-down version of Narutimett Portable with a few difference. It’s the same as the two USA exclusive characters in Narutimett Hero 1 (Kyuubi Naruto and CS Sasuke :-P), They milk the localized version so those who imported the game might be interested.

M'Buma Says:

This is obviously Narutimett Portable. They are just adding a few useless things to pretend it’s a new game exclusive to USA (like Kyuubi Naruto and CS Sasuke in Ultimate Ninja hahah)

I know it looks a lot like Naruto: Narultimate Hero Portable, Ultimate Ninja Heroes is probably running on the same engine. To be fair, Naruto: Narultimate Hero Portable looks a lot like CyberConnect2’s other stuff. And yeah the character art is the same and you’re probably going to have a lot of the same characters.

However, I don’t think it’s just a “toned” down version. The 3 on 3 fighting system is new and it looks like there are going to be team attacks added in. Also by the way the representative emphasized “action oriented” Namco Bandai could be scrapping the whole maze system and replace it with something new or… nothing? Details are sort of hazy about that.

And M’Buma you’re right about the two “character” additions, which really weren’t additions at all, but I have some faith that the fighting system is going to be changed. We’ll see real soon anyway since Ultimate Ninja Heroes comes out in the summer.

Jaxel Says:

This is clearly Narutimate Portable… you can easily point out distinctions revealing the screenshots to be of the Narutimate Hero 2 engine (the engine used in Narutimate Portable). The new “3 on 3″ engine is probably just a character switch using the tag-team items that were available in the Narutimate Hero 2 engine. These assist items were taken out of Narutimate Hero 3 because of how useless they became when everyone would just put Gai or Kidoumaro as their assist character. So all I see them doing is replacing those assist item with a tag in function.

I have faith in CyberConnect2… but I have zero faith in Namco after the poor excuses of video games they have released in the past 5 years.

Kylemcauliffe15 Says:

This is Narutimett Portable. Why make a brand new game?
Here’s what they are doing:

-Removing the story mode
-Taking the 3-Man Cell fighting system from the story mode and making it playable in versus mode
-Removing OTK Naruto and CS2 Sasuke

Can someone try to get this info onto Wiki? It gets deleted everytime because they say it’s not true…. Just wait until the game gets released! When it does, can I request an edit page be put up here so it can be proven to Wiki? That would be great. :)

This is a very good game and i’ve tried it, it features all the shippuden characters (akastuki) (however you spell it) and has a new system in which you can fight 3 v3, original art work plus everyone knows that america takes things and refine it so its “parent appropriate” or else soccer moms will ban it and says is violent and all that other crap. ether way japenese versions are wayyy better than they’re american counter parts ;)
