OMG! Majesco bringing Tumiki Fighters to the Wii?!

I absolutely loved playing Tumiki Fighters, a freeware PC game that is one part Air Zonk and one part Katamari Damacy. In Tumiki Fighters you pilot a plane made out of toy blocks and shoot other toy block flying machines. When you destroy a ship it starts to fall of screen, but you can “catch” it before it disappears. If you catch it the parts of the fallen fighter meld with your tiny plane and you’re granted extra firepower plus protection where the fallen ship sticks to you. As you move further in the game you start collecting larger ships and eventually your plane is an amalgamation of all the enemies you shot down. It’s free to check out for the PC, but recently Tumiki Fighters appeared in a retailer’s database with Majesco as the publisher. This could be a Wii-make of Tumiki Fighters or the other (dismal!) possibility is that it’s an all new game that’s using the same name.

Update: It looks like Gamefly updated their listings with a page for Tumiki Fighters (thanks for the tip IceAmp!). Something’s not quite right though… the genre is listed as "fighting" instead of "shoot em up where you make a massive ship full of junk". It’s probably an oversight since the title sounds like a fighting game.

If it’s downloadable, that’s an easy buy! If it’s a disc-based game, I think it could do well at a $20 price point. That may not be likely, though. Really a joyful game, tho. I think it could fit well with the Wii’s “gameplay first” mentality.

Looks like Gamefly updated the genre for it, as a Shooter, so it does indeed seem to be the real thing!
